Virgil Masayesva's life was celebrated as his passing was mourned at a
Memorial Service held at the University of Northern Arizona's Clifford
White Theater in Flagstaff on April 9.

Co-founder of the university's Institute for Tribal Environmental
Professionals in 1993, Masayesva was described by NAU President John Haeger
as a "powerful force in the history of the university."

As a developer of ITEP's tribal training programs, including the American
Indian Air Quality Training Program, the Tribal Air Monitoring Support
Center and many others, he was involved in issues of air and water quality
not only with Arizona tribes, but with tribes all over the ...
