Next year, Indianapolis will adhere to a smoking ban policy as approved by
the City-County Council this week - by an 18-9 vote.
On March 1, 2006, all public areas including workplaces will be required to
enforce the smoking ban law or suffer a $100 penalty.
On May 9, a majority of the Democratic council members pushed hard for the
passage of the smoking ban proposal -- but failed. After intense debate
during the first half of the council meeting, the bill was sent back to
committee for more review.
But that did not stop Democrat Councilor Angela L. Mansfield, proposal
