The government will not object to the U.S. military trying an Australian terror suspect at Guantanamo Bay despite claims by two prosecutors that the system was rigged, Australia's prime minister said Tuesday.
The U.S. Defense Department acknowledged on Monday that two former members of the military team handling prosecutions of suspected terrorists at the naval base on Cuba had alleged last year that the trial system was rigged in favor of the government.
Officials said, however, that the prosecutors' charges had been thoroughly reviewed and dismissed as unfounded.
