In light of recent news regarding gang warfare throughout metro Atlanta, we
seem to be at the point of yet another epidemic that is affecting our
youth. The number of gangs and the recruitment of gang members in our
community are growing. Gang activity is bringing along with it horrible
incidents of violent crimes and drugs. Gang activity is NOT a NEW problem.
The most obvious clue to the public and law enforcement officers that gang
activity is stirring is the appearance of graffiti. Graffiti is an
important part of gang traditions. It is not just gang art. It proclaims to
the communities the state of the gang and offers a challenge to rivals.
