Qld: Waiting lists dropped off the radar - inquiry

An inquiry's heard former Queensland health minister WENDY EDMOND reneged on a promise
to resolve hidden waiting lists at hospitals because the issue dropped off the radar.

One of Ms EDMOND's first press releases as Health Minister in 1998 says there's a massive
unofficial list of patients who aren't included in official waiting lists.

The press release has been tendered to the MORRIS inquiry into the state's ailing health system.

In the statement, Ms EDMOND said about 36,000 Queenslanders were waiting ...
