(Technician) (U-WIRE) RALEIGH, N.C. -- A little more than half of a century old, the Bell Tower is the most visible symbol of North Carolina State University. Images of the tower can be found on everything from stickers and apparel to coffee mugs.
"It is the most recognizable symbol of North Carolina State University," Connie Justice, a junior in agricultural business management, said.
Though a symbol of great prominence today, the Bell Tower construction project faced initial funding problems and uncertainty regarding its completion. The project would take 30 years to complete at a cost approaching $200,000 when it was all said and done.
