A renowned Italian climber said on Sunday that his brother's remains have been found, 35 years after the brother was lost in an avalanche on a perilous mountain in Pakistan.
Reinhold Messner said his brother's bones, one shoe, hair and pieces of clothing were found July 17 near the base of Nanga Parbat mountain.
Messner said his brother Gunther, two years younger than him, was hit by an avalanche on June 29, 1970, on Nanga Parbat's western face, a day after reaching the northern Himalayan mountain's 26,658-foot (8,125-meter) peak.
Messner said bad weather hit him and his brother and they lost contact ...
