Duncan Fletcher, England's Zimbabwe-born cricket coach, has been granted British citizenship.
The 56-year-old Fletcher, who has been England coach since 1999, guided the team to its first Ashes series victory over Australia since 1986-87. England won the series 2-1 after the two sides drew Monday in the fifth and final test at The Oval.
As the nation celebrated Tuesday, the government confirmed that Fletcher received citizenship last Friday.
