Article: Bosnian war crimes court to try its first case

A war crimes court established in Sarajevo this year took over its first case Wednesday from the U.N. war crimes tribunal based in The Hague, Netherlands.

The court, which was inaugurated in March, will try Bosnian Serb Boban Simsic, who is accused of committing war crimes against civilians during the start of the 1992-1995 Bosnian war in the eastern town of Visegrad, the court said in a statement.

Simsic is accused of the torture, rape and killing of Muslims and of actively participating in ethnic cleansing in the eastern Bosnia in 1992.
