A woman who survived eight nights alone in a dense rainforest after her car rolled off a remote stretch of highway in northeastern Australia is in surprisingly good condition, police said Thursday.

Kathryn Ellacott, 60, was pulled from a ravine by a rescue helicopter late Wednesday after spending more than a week alone after her car plunged about 70 meters (230 feet) down a steep embankment in the Paluma Range, about 60 kilometers (37 miles) north of Townsville in Queensland state.
