THE American armed forces are taking training tips from Irish soldiers.
Air Force General Richard Myers met with Irish Chief of Defense Forces Army
Lieutenant General James Brennan last week and reported being impressed
with the way the Irish military trained.
Some 450 Irish soldiers are among the 15,000 soldiers involved in
peacekeeping operations in the United Nations mission in Liberia. Irish
soldiers also are participating in peacekeeping operations in Lebanon,
Bosnia, Kosovo and Afghanistan.
Officers and noncommissioned officers from Ireland and the U.S. routinely
attend professional military education together. The militaries also work
