(Daily Utah Chronicle) (U-WIRE) SALT LAKE CITY -- My mom and I were trying out a Mexican restaurant we had just discovered. As we asked for a table, we noticed that it was completely packed. We both thought to ourselves, "The food must be really good."
Then we realized that it was Cinco de Mayo.
Just as it was our turn to ask for a table, the American couple in front of us said to the hostess, "We're here to celebrate Mexican Independence. We just love Mexico."
Every year it is the same thing: People assume Cinco de Mayo is Mexican Independence Day.
