Article: Unusually young UC-Berkeley undergraduates feel like normal students

(Daily Californian) (U-WIRE) BERKELEY, Calif. -- Like many other college students, University of California at Berkeley junior Charlie Pierce crams for chemistry midterms, plays video games and watches movies.

But unlike most UC Berkeley students, Charlie just celebrated his 13th birthday.

Charlie and his 14-year-old sister Mayumi are among six students under the age of 15 who enrolled at UC Berkeley this fall, according to Richard Black, associate vice chancellor of admissions and enrollment. Charlie is the youngest transfer student this year.

Out of this semester's 22,880 undergraduate students, only 132 are under the age of 17.
