Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Friday reiterated Moscow's opposition to referring the Iranian nuclear issue to the U.N. Security Council, saying there was no hard evidence that Iran was in violation of the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty.

Lavrov said neither the International Atomic Energy Agency nor other sources "had any information about a real and proven threat (from Iran) to the nonproliferation regime."

Lavrov said the IAEA board would do "the right thing" if it "makes critical suggestions" to Iran and recommends that the IAEA leadership "work more intensively" on solving issues with Iran. Lavrov was speaking to reporters after ...
