Conceptual artist Sol LeWitt and world-renowned flutist Paula Robison are working together on a project that just opened at Boston's Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. "Variations on a Theme" combines visual art with music, using Mozart's flute compositions as inspiration.
LeWitt has created a wall-sized drawing of bold colors. This piece hangs in a room overlooking the museum's interior courtyard garden.
Each day, Robison or other musicians perform a Mozart piece in the room where LeWitt's piece hangs. Mozart's four flute quartets will be played, one ...
