Thursday, September 22, 2005 -- Israeli and world leaders on Wednesday paid tribute to the late Nazi hunter Simon Wiesenthal, and a memorial ceremony was held in his home city of Vienna ahead of his funeral in Israel on Friday.
Wiesenthal died in his sleep at his home in Vienna on Tuesday at the age of 96. During five decades of hunting Nazis, he helped track down more than 1,000 Nazi war criminals, including Adolf Eichmann.
