Jim Hall and Pat Metheny represent two different generations of jazz musicians. Hall's career began in the 1950s, Metheny's in the 1970s. The older guitarist is known for his sparse, angular phrasing; the younger player for his fluid, rock-influenced lines. Last year, their two musical paths crossed at a series of concerts in Pittsburgh and in a New York studio.
