Random House and Focus Features announced Thursday that have formed Random House Films.

"This partnership affords us unprecedented and exciting access to a wealth of material from which great movies can be made," according to a statement by Focus Co-Presidents David Linde and James Schamus.

Focus Films, which has released "The Pianist," "The Motorcycle Diaries" and other movies, and Random House, which publishes such authors as Dan Brown, John Grisham and Toni Morrison, will work together on adaptations of books, past and present, published by Random House.
