Article: Ball State's Isaac perseveres, excels despite personal losses

(Daily News) (CSTV U-WIRE) MUNCIE, Ind. -- Ball State's Chantelle Isaac's mother died when Chantelle was about a year old.

Isaac's father has been incarcerated nearly her entire life.

Her grandmother, who was Isaac's guardian, died when Isaac was 14.

Isaac's cousin, whom she considered a brother, also died when Isaac was 14.

"I had a rough life," Isaac said. "I was always moving, going to different places, changing schools. I never stayed in one place longer than a year. It was very hard to deal with."
