Congresswoman Diane E. Watson (D-Los Angeles) who sponsored legislation to
rename a federal post office in honor of Ray Charles said, "The dedication
ceremony was a tremendous success and tribute to a legendary musical
genius. My hopes are that the naming of this post office facility located
on the corners of Washington Boulevard and La Brea Avenue is only the first
of many tributes for a man who started from nowhere to end up a national
treasure and global phenomenon."
