Article: Songs we all know

It dawned on me when a co-worker was at my desk. One of Marvin Gaye's
classics, "Let's Get It On," was being played on the radio. I said, "That's
one of those songs everyone from 12 to 92 knows." The co-worker agreed.

Hence, the idea for this story -- songs we all know (well, just about all).
These songs are timeless because of their familiarity and ongoing appeal.

The next day, I was at a CVS store and Anita Baker's signature song, "Sweet
Love," was playing via the piped in music system. The lady in line behind
me was singing along gleefully, and she knew every word. It was another one
of those songs, the ones that people never stop loving.
