NICHOLSON: Mr. Vice President, Mrs. Cheney, Commander Bach (ph),
Mrs. Bach (ph), Chairman of the Joint Chiefs General Pace, Mrs. Pace, General
and Mrs. Swann (ph), members of the Cabinet, members of the Congress, service
secretaries, fellow veterans, ladies and gentlemen, we meet here this morning
with glad and grateful hearts to pay tribute to the more than 50 million
Americans who wore the uniform of our country over the past 229 years,
