Acting Governor Codey is considering a deal that would ban smoking in New Jersey bars, restaurants and other indoor locations, but spare Atlantic City's casinos.

Smoking would be allowed at the gaming tables but prohibited in bars, restaurants and other areas of the casinos, Codey said Thursday. He is pushing lawmakers to approve the ban by January, when he steps down as acting governor.
