Fed: Music education inconsistent and inequitable: Report

SYDNEY, Nov 21 AAP - Australian students are not getting enough exposure to music teaching,
a damning federal government report has found.

The National Review of School Music Education today revealed Australia was "inconsistent
and inequitable" in teaching its students music.

"The results of the inquiry are in my view disturbing at best," Education Minister
Dr Brendan Nelson said at the report's launch in Sydney.

"Music is for everyone, not just those children deemed gifted or whose parents have
the financial means."
