Fed: Parents back plan to ban school junk food vending machines

CANBERRA, Nov 28 AAP - Parents groups have backed a plan by Australia's peak doctors
body to ban junk food vending machines in schools, amid warnings half of all young Australians
could be overweight by 2025.

The Australian Medical Association (AMA) is calling for school vending machines to
only sell water, an end to chocolate fund-raising drives, healthier school canteens and
bans on junk food advertising directed at children.
