Former NUBE leader, officer claim trial to CBT

KUALA LUMPUR, Thurs. - Former union leader K. Sanmugam was today charged

with criminal breach of trust of RM1.25 million belonging to one of the
richest unions in the country, the National Union of Bank Employees

(NUBE).

Sanmugam, 58, a former secretary-general of NUBE, is alleged to have

committed the CBT of the union's assets - 100,000 shares of Kuantan Flour

Mill Bhd - on Nov 14, 1996.

Also at the Sessions Court, P.R. Ramany Ramakrishnan, 48, former human

resource officer of NUBE, was charged with cheating and falsifying the

union's account on the same day.

Both claimed trial.
