In Southern Africa, Zambia will try to reduce malaria deaths by 75 percent over the next three years. Malaria is one of the biggest killers on the continent, claiming nearly a million lives a year. Past efforts to eradicate malaria in Africa haven't worked, and in recent years malaria deaths have even increased. But Zambia's ambitious malaria plan is being backed by millions of dollars from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
