Heavy snow killed at least two people and disrupted traffic in northern and western Japan on Thursday as the Meteorological Agency warned of more snowfalls through Sunday.
A 77-year-old man died in Niigata prefecture (state) after he was found collapsing on the roof of his house and taken to a hospital, according to a police official, who declined to be named citing his branch policy. He was believed to be shoveling snow, the official said.
