EU regulators cleared Reckitt Benckiser PLC's proposed 1.9 billion pound (euro2.8 billion; US$3.4 billion) acquisition of the consumer healthcare division of Boots Group PLC on Friday, meaning the deal could be completed in the next few months.

In October, the British household products company said the tie-up would add "three power brands" _ Nurofen painkillers, Strepsils sore throat lozenges and Clearasil anti-acne treatments _ to its range of consumer products that include the Lemsip cold remedy, Veet hair removal cream, Dettol disinfectant and Gaviscon antacid.
