The Lincoln Family Life Center has chosen this year to hold its inaugural
pro/celebrity golf and tennis invitational, which has been scheduled for
December 2 and 3 at the Ojai Valley Inn and Spa. Two African American
female greats, Althea Gibson and Shelia Johnson, will be honored at the
event.
Tennis legend Althea Gibson, who also made headlines in the world of golf,
has been named this year's honoree and a special tribute will be dedicated
to her.
Gibson was the first African American to win championship tournaments such
as Wimbledon, the French Open, the Australian Doubles and the United States
