Last week I experienced another example of the richness and diversity of
our Oakland/ East Bay region by attending a performance at the Oakland
Arena of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Like many people, I have heard of the
choir, but had never seen it perform live. Also, like other people, while I
certainly have heard of the Mormon religion, I know very little about its
history, particularly here in the Oakland/East Bay region. I had wonderful
experience learning about both.
My friend Lorenzo Hoopes is one of the elders and leaders of the Mormon
church. He invited me to attend a reception and performance of the Mormon
