Ever heard of the Care Bear stare? Angela Boyce created it and perfected it
for folks who didn't respect a poet's time on the microphone.

Sounds innocent, but when a whole room full of people concentrate their
eyes on an offender, necks get hot.

Ms. Boyce, a familiar face and personality on Sacramento's poetry scene
succumbed to respiratory problems on August 30. She would have turned 31 on
September 17.

Friend Khiry Moore says Ms. Boyce was instrumental in giving local slam
poets a voice. As there was no team at the time, she ventured on her own to
the 2001 National Slam competition. She returned to Sacramento ranked fifth
