(Daily Targum) (U-WIRE) NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. -- Yesterday the Supreme Court upheld the Oregon Death With Dignity Act, which entitles terminally ill patients in Oregon to have a doctor administer a lethal dose of drugs. Former Attorney General John Ashcroft attempted to criminalize physician-assisted suicide, by calling it "drug abuse," according to the Controlled Substances Act of 1970. However, the Supreme Court justly ruled 6-3 that it is up to Oregon constituents, doctors and patients to administer their own prescriptions and decide their own fates.
