The Shiite alliance that will be the strongest bloc in the next parliament will decide on its nominee for prime minister in the "coming few days," a top Shiite official said Thursday.
Vice President Adil Abdul-Mahdi told reporters that the decision about the new prime minister was under discussion within the Shiite alliance, which gets first crack at trying to form a new government after winning the biggest number of parliament seats in the Dec. 15 election.
"In the coming few days, the alliance will reach a decision regarding naming its candidate for this post," Abdul-Mahdi said.
