(The California Aggie) (U-WIRE) DAVIS, Calif. -- Being a Woody Allen fan in 2006 isn't necessarily the mark of a film connoisseur, an intellectual or even anything highbrow. But it most definitely hints at the presence of a compulsion -- and at this point in his career, gluttony for punishment. But people come back to the Wood-man for a reason.
Liking his more recent work falls in with the same sort of alibis that excuse things like trips to Civil War battlefields and buying Paul McCartney's newer productions. All that needs be said is, "It's a Civil War battlefield" or "It's Paul" and somehow, that's everything justified and explained in a neat ...
