The University of Memphis Tigers will face the Mid American Conference
champion Akron Zips in the 2005 Motor City Bowl on Monday, Dec. 26 in
Detroit. The game will be played at Ford Field and televised nationally on
ESPN. Motor City Bowl officials extended the bid to Memphis this past
weekend, following the completion of the Bowl Championship Series
selections.
Memphis, behind AFCA first-team All-American running back DeAngelo Williams
and Lou Groza Award finalist Stephen Gostkowski, boasts the top rated
offense in Conference USA and the fourth rated rushing offense in the
