'Hotel Rwanda' hero speaks at Washington State U.

(Daily Evergreen) (U-WIRE) PULLMAN, Wash. -- Scores of Washington State University students were turned away, when attendance for Paul Rusesabagina's speech filled the Compton Union Building Ballroom to capacity and then some Tuesday.

Rusesabagina, the hotel manager turned hero portrayed in the movie "Hotel Rwanda," talked students through his two-month ordeal during the 1994 genocide in Rwanda.

"'Hotel Rwanda' is a real, true story," he said.

More than 1,000 students packed into wall-to-wall chairs, sat on the floor or stood in back, as they listened to Rusesabagina narrate the beginning of the violence in Rwanda up through the hotel incident.
