Without much hope, I asked whether I could tag along with IOC president Jacques Rogge for a day at the Turin Olympics. To my surprise, the answer was yes.

For 12 hours on Tuesday, I followed Rogge around as he went to biathlon, speedskating and figure skating _ all the while glued to his BlackBerry for updates on the latest developments in the Austrian doping case.

With plenty of time for conversation in the car between venues, Rogge touched on a number of subjects, from the drug scandal to the lack of atmosphere at some events.
