FED: God Save the Queen should be played at games: Vanstone
CANBERRA, March 2 AAP - Australia should play God Save the Queen at the Commonwealth
Games opening ceremony as a sign of respect, Immigration Minister and republican Amanda
Vanstone said today.
Senator Vanstone said she disagreed with the decision by organisers not to play Britain's
national anthem when the Queen opens the Games in Melbourne later this month.
"Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II is Australia's head of state and, as such, it would
be appropriate to play God Save the Queen, if for no other reason than to show respect
