Fed: Games rejects PM's push for God Save the Queen

MELBOURNE, March 2 AAP - Commonwealth Games organisers are resisting growing pressure
to play God Save the Queen at the opening ceremony but insist the monarch will be "appropriately
honoured".
Prime Minister John Howard and Immigration Minister Senator Amanda Vanstone today added
their voices to the chorus of calls for the United Kingdom's national anthem to be played
when Queen Elizabeth opens the Games on March 15.
Mr Howard said playing God Save the Queen in the presence of the monarch was just good
