A company indirectly controlled by Norwegian shipping magnate John Fredriksen has agreed to buy the world's largest fish farming group, Netherlands-based Marine Harvest N.V., the current owners said Monday.

Britain's Geveran Trading Co. Ltd., which is owned by Fredriksen's Greenwich Holding Ltd., would take over Marine Harvest for euro1.175 billion (US$1.41 billion), pending approval by regulatory authorities.

Nutreco Holding N.V. of the Netherlands owns 75 percent of Marine Harvest, with British-Norwegian Stolt-Nielsen S.A. holding the remaining 25 percent.
