Report: India, China trying to end stalemate in efforts to resolve border dispute

Asian giants India and China on Sunday tried to break a deadlock in their talks to resolve a decades-old border dispute that caused a brief but bloody war in 1962, a news report said.

"The talks are moving in the right direction," Press Trust of India news agency quoted Indian National Security Adviser M. K. Narayanan as saying in Kumarakom, a tourist resort in the southern Indian state of Kerala.

"Our effort is to extricate talks from the logjam. I will be dishonest if I say that it will be settled in this round," Narayanan told reporters after meeting with Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Dai Bingguo.
