Fed: Public Enemy's Chuck D says less 'bling' and more thought

SYDNEY, March 13 AAP - Public Enemy founder Chuck D says a bit of "bling" is fine,
but has urged younger performers to go back to basics.

Diamond stud earrings, chunky rings, thick chains and gold tooth caps have become common
accessories for rap and hip hop artists in recent years.

But Chuck D said it had to be more about the music and less about the flashiness of
a performer's image.

"Before, people were awestruck by what it was that inspired that particular artist,"
