Slobodan Milosevic will be buried under a linden tree in the courtyard of his estate in eastern Serbia, his associate announced Wednesday.

After Serbia's government refused to let the disgraced ex-president be buried with state honors in the capital, Milosevic's Socialists, his widow and son worked out the unusual arrangement to bury him in the private garden in his hometown of Pozarevac, 50 kilometers, (30 miles) east of Belgrade.

"Since it's impossible to have the funeral in the Alley of the Great (in Belgrade) ... the town of Pozarevac will be honored to accept his remains," said Milomir ...
