Birka Line Abp is to lay off 145 people following the sale of a cruise liner, the Finnish shipping line said Monday.

The company, based in the Finnish Aland Islands, completed the sale of the Birka Princess for US$35 million (euro30 million) on Friday to the Cyprus-based Louis Public Company Ltd., Birka's managing director Anders Ingves said.
