NSW: Inexperienced couple winched to safety in Blue Mountains
SYDNEY, March 27 AAP - A Sydney couple have been airlifted to safety after spending
the night stranded in a canyon in the Blue Mountains.
The 24-year-old North Ryde man and 21-year-old Lakemba woman were exhausted but uninjured
after their rescue from Thunder Gorge in Claustral Canyon about midday (AEDT) today.
The pair became stuck after realising they did not have the necessary experience to
complete the trek.
The NRMA CareFlight helicopter winched a paramedic 80 metres inside the canyon after
another member of the group walked out and raised the alarm this morning.
