Vic: Halloran to return to senior role in Victoria Police

MELBOURNE, April 5 AAP - The Australian policeman acquitted of sex offences and freed
from a Sierra Leone prison will return to a senior role with Victoria Police.

Former homicide squad chief Peter Halloran, who went to West Africa to take up a temporary
post as a UN investigator, spent 18 months behind bars before he was freed on appeal in
October last year.

Victoria Police confirmed tonight Superintendent Halloran's return to work would see
him head up a unit investigating missing persons and long unsolved "cold case" murders.
