Gray declares for D.C. City Council Chair

Freshman D.C. City Councilman Vincent Gray (D-Ward 7) decided he would run
for the Democratic nomination for D.C. City Council Chairman. Gray made his
announcement official on a Washington radio on Feb. 24.

"A number of people from across the city have approached me about running
for chairman of the D.C. Council," Gray said. "At first, I did not take it
seriously, but as people pressed on, I began to look at it seriously. I
think that there is a real concern about leadership on the D.C. Council.
Even though I have been there a short period of time, I know I can provide
that leadership."
