Lt. Governor Taylor Talks HOPE With AKAs

Lt. Governor Mark Taylor today told more than 200 "committed ladies" who
are members of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. that his HOPE
scholarship proposal will "protect the checks" for current and future
students.

"If we are going to have the people vote on yet another constitutional
amendment to protect HOPE, we need a real amendment with teeth in it. We
need to make sure we are doing everything possible to prevent future cuts,"
Lt. Governor Taylor said.

The women of Alpha Kappa Alpha, the nation's first Greek-lettered
African-American college sorority founded in 1908, were celebrating their
