D.C. Councilman Marion Barry (Ward-8) has been characterized as "one lucky
guy" by supporters, as he left federal court on March 9, receiving three
years of supervised probation and a $75 court fee for misdemeanor charges
for failing to file taxes. In addition, it is estimated that Barry may owe
$195,000 for federal income taxes and $51,000 for D.C. taxes. If Barry
violates the terms of his probation, he could face imprisonment.
The courtroom was packed once again with reporters on one side and
